The Top Under-Rated Websites in Sports, Streaming Video, Travel, and the Internet.

. Sunday, September 2, 2007

As some of you are aware, we here in ButterMouth like to promote the websites that don't get the respect that they deserve. Don't get us wrong, the sites that are famous are famous for a reason (e.g. because they have great content), but there are many sites out there that don't get the attention they deserve. Some of you may be aware of some of the websites located below, but not to worry, there will be more updates of websites that scored better than 90% on our ButterMouth test. This test takes into account such things as; regularity of updates, user comments, user loyalty, amount of unique content, and many other variables. One thing it doesn't take into account, is traffic data.

It's our mission here at ButterMouth to look past the web 2.0 standard of measuring content by traffic, links, and ratings, and use human driven criteria to determine the best sites and blogs out there. If web 2.0 social bookmarking is so great, then why is it still hard to find what your looking for. The answer is simple, overabundance. There is way too much content for people to absorb at a time. So here are ButterMouth, we are going to take a step back in Internet history, and revert back to Web 1.5, so all of you can appreciate the websites that got lost in the confusion, at your own pace. We hope you enjoy all the "butter".

The Top 5 Sites in Sports, Streaming Video, Travel, and the Internet

Sports

The Sports Network
A great alternative to ESPN. Has the same feel of ESPN, but without all the exclusive and expensive "insider" content ESPN loves to post.

FootyTube

A blog that is dedicated to showing videos of all the happenings in football (soccer). It has a lot of videos posted everyday, so a great time waster for soccer fans.

ProSportsDaily
The best place on the internet to get sports rumors from the MLB, NBA, NHL, and NFL. This site scours newspaper wires for sports rumors. I check this site all the time to see if my teams are about to trade, sign, or resign my favorite players. You can search all sports, specific leagues, or your own team for rumors. A truly great site for any sports fan.

Scout
Basically, scout.com has message boards for college teams, pro teams, and sports talk in general. A great place to go and talk about your team, whatever sport they might be in. All you need to do is pick your team, and click on message boards. There you will probably find thousands of people discussing your teams successes and occasional disappointments. Another site like Scout (which happens to be owned by another giant corporation) is Rivals. Both of these sites are a great resource to any sports fan.

DeadSpin
A humorous sports blog that deals with anything and everything about sports. A great blog to read everyday if your a sports fan.

At these sites you can watch your favorite movies and TV shows without even downloading them. Just click on the name of the show or movie you want to see, then it starts playing, usually in great quality too.

OVGuide
This site is great. It's a search engine that crawls through all the streaming videos sites out there. All you have to do is enter the show or movie you want to see, and it will show you links to where you can find it. ButterMouth lists this site under search engines, but it is one of the best streaming videos sites out there.

Nabolister
A great site that includes a search box. All you need to do is search for your favorite TV show or movie, and a list of streaming videos will be presented to you.

quicksilverscreen
QSS has a very simple layout showing all the TV shows and movies. Next to each of the links, there are little images that tell you if the link is working or not. This makes things go a lot smoother when looking for video. You need to become a member to use the forum and watch the movies.

DivXlive
A great site that links to only DivX movies. There are some great new movies and classics listed on this site. We highly recommend this site.

MovieForumz
MovieForumz is a great forum with an unbeatable selection of video. People add links to movies and TV shows that can be found on different video sites on the internet. Posts are rated which help in choosing videos to watch. Because the posts are ordered by date, you know that the top posts will have functional videos. There are a lot of videos and shows on MovieForumz, and if it wasn't for the owner's alleged spam tactics, this site would probably be #1
