Top 7 Movie Review/Detail Websites

. Thursday, July 9, 2009

There's a lot out there for movie buffs to read, so we put together a list of the top sites where you can find info about movies. From reviews to how much dough they pulled in, we've got it all. Disagree? Get your own blog! Or, let us know in the comments and we'll do another post.

First up is Trailer Addict, where we go when we want to see what's coming out.

Trailer Spy is a lot like Trailer Addict, except they have all those awesome Red Band trailers you love so much. Well, we love 'em at least. The thing about Red Band trailers is they give you a better idea of what R rated flicks will be about. They're not dumbed down for TV, since they're only available on the Web.

iO9 is Gawker Media's "hey look at this sci-fi/movie stuff. It's sort of a mashup of all things futurey, but that usually includes funny write-ups of the movies you want to see.

/Film (slashfilm) is a movie opinion site. They're currently, "concentrating on the geek/genre centric side of the movie universe." This is a site for you if you're looking for seasoned movie critics' take on the newest films.

Rotten Tomatoes is the ultimate movie rating site. The number of tomatoes given to a film determines its goodness (or crapiness). This is populated by people who have seen the movies, so there's more than just one person telling you what's what.

BoxOfficeMojo's editors produce analysis, reviews, interviews and the most comprehensive box office tracking available online. It's more for the super geeks who want to know how well a movie is doing based on the ticket revenues. But ah, that can be valuable info when talking about like, Transformers.

Yahoo! Movies is a hub for all your movie needs. Whether you're looking for the newest reviews/trailers or want to see what's come out on DVD or if you want to make a digital list of films to keep an eye out for, this is the spot to do it.

Michael Jackson Haunts Neverland

Last week, CNN took a tour of the Neverland ranch, where Michael Jackson spent the last remaining years of his life - well, until recently when he moved out. Pay attention to the background in this footage. There's most definitely something ghostly in the background.

The Ugly Truth: total chick flick, but Kathering Heigl remains super hot.

500 Days of Summer: Zooey Deschanel, need I say more?

I Love you Beth Cooper: Hayden Penattiere looks like a child, but I'm told in person she's stunning.

Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince: Emma Watson (Hermoine) = almost legal!

Jennifer's Body: Megan Fox is a demon high school girl. This is a redband trailer, so it's NSFW.

Watch Movies Back to Back in Theaters

. Tuesday, June 30, 2009

DoubleFeatureFinder.com

As I teenager, me and my friends would often "sneak" into movies to save some money. I mean if we were already in the theater, why would we pay for another showing?

Well, now, teenagers (and some sneaky adults) have a easy way to plan their day at the theater. For the price of one ticket, you can treat yourself to one heck of a movie marathon.

To start, all you need to do is enter your zip code. You'll see a list of theaters in your neighborhood. After choosing the theater of your choice, you'll be able to see all the current movies in a time line.

The time line makes it easy to see what movies you can watch right after each other. Just choose a movie to start with, and you have a list of movies you can watch without missing any action. Of course, some theaters have ushers in front of each screen checking tickets, so be sure to scope out your theater before trying this.

Boxee Goes For the Motherload: Windows Version, MLB, Digg, Tumblr And Current

. Tuesday, June 23, 2009

This exciting news should brighten your evening: TechCrunch just announced that Boxee has unveiled a bunch of new goodies for you tonight at an event in San Francisco. What, pray tell, have they bestowed upon us and how? To name a few items: Boxee for Windows (thought it's in alpha, it's still open for public use), Major League Baseball including a ton of channels there, Tumblr and Current.

We get MLB and Current - both provide a ton of content via the Web, though traditionally MLB makes you pay for their coverage. The same here, but you can pay monthly or up front. Another cool feature, this is the first time live content will be available through Boxee. Look out cablers.

Current is and probably always will be free. It's already available on cable and the Webs (duh) but having it ported through Boxee means another blow to the thread of edginess cable is holding onto and the Web's crappy resolution.

You can also stream music shared on Tumblr and watch Digg videos, which should make for some fun. Check out the details, here.
